37 On the last day, that great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried out, saying, “If anyone thirsts, let him come to Me and drink. 38 He who believes in Me, as the Scripture has said, out of his heart will flow rivers of living water.” 39 But this He spoke concerning the Spirit, whom those believing in Him would receive; for the Holy Spirit was not yet given, because Jesus was not yet glorified. John 7:37-39 (NKJV)

With a desire for the Holy Spirit, rivers of living water will flow from us. When we are hungry, we desire a greater measure of God. This hunger and thirst never ends. It does not only bless us but it will also bless others as it flows from us.  If we desire an outpouring, there are a number of things we need to do. This includes prayer, fasting and worship. A move of God requires a sacrifice from us. It requires us to seek His face diligently.

Adjust Our Mindsets
Jesus came to free and lead us. However, there are times where we are not opened to change and the move of God. In order to receive, we have to be expectant and always ready. It is important that we do not quench the Spirit by resisting Him and not allowing Him to work in our lives.

Some of us become afraid when God begins to move because it is contrary to what we have been taught. We must allow God to change our hearts and minds to be receptive to His move. God is not normal, neither can He be predicted. Therefore, our minds must recognize this fact and be opened. We cannot limit how God moves.

Many think that God would not move on others based on their current situation. However, God does not wait until we have it all together and are perfect. When God moves on us, He works on us at the same time.  He sees our issues and desires us to move to where He is calling us.

In order for change to come, we must start. When we start, we may not see the fruit. However, we must be faithful to the call and believe that God is able to complete the work that He has started. We live by faith, not by sight.

In order for our mindsets to be adjusted, we must align with the fact that it needs changing. We must check our present beliefs against the Word of God and get rid of negative thoughts. To adjust our mindset, we have to remove all hurts and offenses and change our attitudes. It is important that we align our thoughts with the Word of God and have godly people around us.

Become Hungry And Thirsty
We have to become thirsty for the things of God (Psalm 63:1, 143:6). When we are hungry and thirsty, God will fill us (Matthew 5:6, Isaiah 44:3). Hunger is an escort to the deeper things of God. When we are hungry, we begin to fellowship with others who are also hungry. Thirsty people make thirsty people, thirstier. Only God can truly satisfy us. When we are hungry, we spend more time in the presence of God and when we go out, His presence goes with us.

As the deer pants for the water brooks, so pants my soul for You, O God. My soul thirsts for God, for the living God. When shall I come and appear before God? Psalm 42:1-2 (NKJV)

Press Into The Spirit For More
Hunger motivates us to press into God. This hunger is desperate and keeps on pressing in until they receive. When we are desperate, we are not concerned about what others say or think. Our gaze is set on Jesus.

We are longing for more of God and God will not disappoint. We must continue to press in and don’t give up. Let us start the ascension! Let us start the climb!
