If you want what you never had, you have to do what never did. Therefore, we need to change our mindsets. A mindset is a fixed state of thinking which is caused by the experiences and environment that a person has been in. Some of us have a mindset of poverty. God never expected us to be poor. It was always His desire for us to be rich. Gaius was a loyal servant within the church. John’s desire for him was that he would prosper and be in good health above all things (3 John 1:2). Therefore, prosperity is for the Christians. We are not called to be poor but to be wealthy in all things. We should have a balanced life. We cannot be people of prayer and cannot pay our bills.
In the book of Revelations when John wrote the letters to the seven churches, God told him to come up hither when He showed him the things to come. John was a worshipper and therefore, it was easy for him to be in the spirit. When John was in the spirit, he got a visual of God and the environment around Him. The environment around God is filled with gold, colours and many riches (Revelations 4).
Wealthy/Prosperity Thinking VS Poverty/Lack Thinking
If we are to live in the power of the Spirit, we have to realize that there must be prosperity in our lives. Jesus came to give us life and life more abundantly. We have to be in the right place and the right time for wealth (Ecclesiastes 9:11). Once we are in the right position, vision comes. When we are in the right position, God gives us the right perspective. Habakkuk prayed frantically to God in Habakkuk 1. He was panicking but when he went to the tower and positioned himself, then vision came (Habbakuk 1-2). Our attitude forms our speech. Our speech forms our world.
The only place where success, prosperity and wealth come before work is in the dictionary. You have to work for what you want. You don’t need anyone to give you a job to get a cash flow. You have what it takes on the inside. Wealth is God’s idea (Genesis 1:28). God commanded us to be fruitful, multiply, replenish, subdue and have dominion. The Lord is our shepherd and we shall not want. We do not have to worry about our finances and our next pay cheque. Wealth is connected to your character.
Prosperity means to be helped along to become prosperous. Therefore, if you want to be prosperous, you have to hang around people with the same mind. If you want to be prosperous, you should have prosperous habits. There are a number of habits of unsuccessful people including:
