Altars, Gates and Covenants (Pt.5) – Minister Sonia Johnson

Wherever there is a throne, there is an altar. Where there is an altar, there is a gate. A throne is a symbol of legal authority. There is a throne of God and a throne of Satan (Hebrews 4:16, Psalms 11:4, Revelations 7:15, Revelations 2:13).

Thrones are set up at gates (2 Chronicles 18:9, Esther 5:1, Jeremiah 1:15, Revelations 4:1-2). Thrones stand over altars and gates and the one who sits upon the throne is the actual power behind the altar. That person forms a stronghold and uses an altar for their purpose. To deal with any stronghold, we have to destroy the demonic throne and the power that is working behind the altar. Thrones are set up through decrees and ordinances. This is why declarations should not be taken likely.

In Amos 9:1, we see that there was an idolatrous altar in Bethel. If we want to be free, we have to destroy the idolatrous foundations by putting our spiritual hands on it and burning the idol. We also have to release ourselves from all family idols from our ancestry. Every family altar has to be dismantled. Whenever the Lord stands, there is judgement that is going forth (Psalms 94). The Lord stands by the altar. Every evil throne set up against us has to come down. Don’t be afraid of the enemy.

An altar is a place of sacrifice. In Acts 17:16-23, there was an altar set up that was contrary to the instructions of God. An altar is a meeting place between the physical and the spiritual. It is a gate way to the spirit realm. To have a connection with God, we have to meet Him at the altar through sacrifice (Hebrews 9:11-15). An altar is dedicated to God for worship. Every altar set up is on fire.

Altars are watchmen over governments. They testify for or against us. They are capable of taking actions. The altar should not be a joke as it testifies of us. There are visible and invisible altars. There are two types of altars which are divine altars and satanic altars. (1 Kings 18:20-40).

Altars set up to the enemy can hinder us. There are altars of afflictions where the victim is afflicted with diseases such as cancer. It doesn’t matter where we are the altar can still affect us.

Altars can be found at various locations such as beaches and roads. There are statues raised in countries that are altars. They can be found at the entrances of certain organizations and businesses.

There is power behind the altar you have set up to God and no weapon would be able to harm you. Wherever there is worship of any kind, there is an altar. They can be found in supermarkets and malls. We as the people of God have power to dismantle the altars (Ephesians 6:12).

An altar is a place of exchange. One is attached to the altar through a sacrifice. When it requires a sacrifice, death comes. It can be death of a family member, death to marriages or death to our children’s destinies and visions.

The altar of God calls for us. God has plans to prosper us and give us a future (Jeremiah 29:11). God calls from the altar of Jesus (Revelations 8:3-4). Every time we pray, the angel of God takes the prayers from the altars that we raise. The prayers are placed in the censer where it meets with Jesus who is on the golden altar. Where are your prayers going? Make sure that your prayers are going to the golden altar.

We have to be careful not to be governed by evil altars. The altar of God must always win. We must know what the altars are and where they are.

Most battles were fought on high slopes (Amos 4:13, Micah 1:3). Whenever you reach a mountain top, Satan tries to stop you. When the cross was lifted up, the enemy was defeated. When He rose on the third day, that was a greater rising. The valley is not the place to stay. Resurrection is an altar of life. If there is any death in your life, it is time to call on the altar of resurrection. God puts Israel and us on the heights of the earth (Isaiah 58:14, Deuteronomy 32:13). We call you out from the valley and place you on the heights.

Daily we enter into covenants unconsciously. A marriage is constituted as a covenant. It is covenant when blood is shed and is on the throne, an altar then is raised. Sexual relations such as fornication, adultery, pornography and prostitution constitute as a covenant. Sexual relations should be according to the law of God. It is time to take away the power behind them. Sexual organs can become gates to the enemies. Put some locks on your sexual organs and give the Holy Ghost the key.

Secret societies, piercings in certain parts of your body, wearing certain clothing and certain jewellery on parts of the body also create covenants. One needs to destroy the power behind them. Covenants are easily created but hard to get out of.

What belongs to Christ belongs to us. The altar of Jesus Christ will never fail (Matthew 26:28, Hebrews 12:24). We have to make new covenants.
