Walking In True Glory – Pastor Martha Kure

23 “So it was, when you heard the voice from the midst of the darkness, while the mountain was burning with fire, that you came near to me, all the heads of your tribes and your elders. 24 And you said: ‘Surely the Lord our God has shown us His glory and His greatness, and we have heard His voice from the midst of the fire. We have seen this day that God speaks with man; yet he still lives. 25 Now therefore, why should we die? For this great fire will consume us; if we hear the voice of the Lord our God anymore, then we shall die. 26 For who is there of all flesh who has heard the voice of the living God speaking from the midst of the fire, as we have, and lived? 27 You go near and hear all that the Lord our God may say, and tell us all that the Lord our God says to you, and we will hear and do it.’ 28 “Then the Lord heard the voice of your words when you spoke to me, and the Lord said to me: ‘I have heard the voice of the words of this people which they have spoken to you. They are right in all that they have spoken. 29 Oh, that they had such a heart in them that they would fear Me and always keep all My commandments, that it might be well with them and with their children forever! 30 Go and say to them, “Return to your tents.” Deuteronomy 5:23-30

How can we get the true glory? What is the true glory? The Lord watched over the people of Israel during this time. The people came to a point where they agreed that they had seen God’s power but they did not want to see it again. They wanted Moses to go ahead. Instead of walking in the glory, they decided not to because they did not have the capacity. They went back into their tents.  There are some of us who cannot go to another level because we don’t have the capacity to perceive what we need in order to move forward. We don’t have the capacity to perceive what is needed to function. We become limited in our prayer life. Some of us do not have the capacity to function because the law is still written on stones. In order for growth to come, the seed needs to fall on fertile ground. The word needs to come alive in our hearts.

The glory that was on Moses was limited (2 Corinthians 3:7-11). This covenant was to be done away with and its glory was only for a time. The law dealt with the outward appearance of man where man followed ordinances and rules. This was only outward worship that was not eternal. But God did a new thing! He brought the ministry of the Spirit which has a glory that is excellent. There is a glory of the kingdom of the world and a glory of the kingdom of God. The glory of the world will pass away but the glory of God will remain. Jesus did not bow to the glory of the world. It looked glorious but it wasn’t eternal. We have to long for the glory of God. We have made idols in our lives through entertainment and material things which do not help us to grow spiritually. This is a temporary glory.

Some of us are taking and giving glory but this is the glory of the world (John 5:44). This will only last for a season. There is a glory that one can have before they are even saved. This is the glory of the world. The true glory belongs to and comes from God.

There is no glory without sufferings (Hebrews 2:10). The people of Israel did not walk in the true glory. It is only through God that we can have the true glory. When we are in Christ, we have an incorruptible seed. We have the word where when we read it, we are transformed into the image of Christ and into the culture of heaven. We begin to relate with God from the inside out and not from the outside. There is an eternal glory that was meant for us from the beginning that would produce the fruit of the Spirit. Our first priority should be to walk as the sons of God in the earth. The sons of God know when and where. They have the spirit of self control. God wants sons who would carry His character and walk according to heaven. As we behold the glory of God, we are transformed into His image.

For we are the circumcision, who worship God in the Spirit, rejoice in Christ Jesus, and have no confidence in the flesh. Philippians 3:3

Those who are led by the Spirit are called the sons of God. Are the things that we are involved in led by the Spirit? When we start to do things that are not of God, our conscious becomes snared. We begin to live according to the world with ease. Those who walk in the Spirit, have an eternal glory. They have no confidence in the flesh. When we walk in the Spirit, we submit to the word of God. There are things in our lives that need to be circumcised. What are we bearing in the flesh that determines who we are? Is it baptism or communion? Confidence in the flesh will pass away.

If our old nature is dictating what we should do, it is not God. We have to say no to the enemy. We cannot satisfy our flesh. We can breathe today and tomorrow breathe no more. Our bodies are the temple of God not the temple of demons. What are we exchanging our souls for? What are we involved in? What has captured our souls? We must live a life surrendered to God walking in the true glory.
