There are so many things, shopping, food, parties, decorating and gifts that can distract us from the true meaning of Christmas. The list goes on. With all these things the real true meaning of Christmas is lost. Let this season be about Jesus Christ and the fact that Jesus Christ came in the flesh. He is God’s gift to man. The Christmas story however did not end after the birth, it continues on. What then is the true meaning of Christmas? It is about Jesus demonstrating God’s love for mankind.

For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. John 3:16 (NKJV)

This is truly a demonstration of God’s love. Mankind was trapped in a state of sin, which was his own fault and not God’s fault, and the more we tried to make things right, the deeper we went into sin. Yet God came, it was God’s solution, His own idea to send His Son Jesus Christ to save us. Jesus came and demonstrated what love was all about. He had compassion on us. This is love reflected! He sent His Son as an atoning sacrifice (1 John 4:9-10). Jesus, the sinless One gave Himself up for our sins. He stepped in place and paid the penalty so we could be free and live through Him.

While we were yet sinners, God demonstrated His love for us (Romans 5:8). This demonstration of love for us took place while we were God’s enemy and yet Christ died for us. Reflect, to die for someone takes a lot of love! What then is Christmas really about? It is simply about, “God’s Amazing Love, His Unchanging Love!

The story of Christmas did not die when Jesus went back to heaven. The story of the birth of Jesus Christ continues on. It is about showing love and reaching out to those who don’t love us and who we have grown apart from and may not have that loving feeling towards any longer. The children of God should not be of this mindset, we need to get back in there and show unchanging love. The present state you may be in of not speaking and not showing love is certainly not of God. Godly love is crucial, the love of God is about going beyond despite. This same kind of love is in all of us.

Really, it is not about us. It is about the Father’s agenda and we are to reveal Jesus Christ in our daily lives. If we are living through Jesus Christ, we are not to live and act in the flesh. We should not say what we feel like saying; no, we say what God wants us to say. We should be a reflection of Him. Remember, it is not our will but God’s will. My life should be wrapped up in Him so much that we reflect Him daily.

And you know that He was manifested to take away our sins, and in Him there is no sin. 1 John 3:5 (NKJV)

Our sins place a separation between us and God. Many think they could bridge the gap by doing good deeds, but that is not the answer. The answer is when we accept God as our Savior and be saved, that is the answer. We cannot live a life without Him, we cannot live a day of our life without Him. We need Him to be saved, and we need Him to remain saved. He is our Savior. The birth of Jesus, a Son, our Savior, and the story continues.

But we are not saved just to go to heaven. Our mission is to reconcile people to God so they would know that Jesus loves them. Jesus came to destroy devil’s works of darkness, the chains that binds us like jealously, envy, broken homes, anxiety and depression (1John 3:8). Jesus came to loosen our chains and set us free. Demons tremble at the name of Jesus, at the name of Jesus every man has to fall. Jesus holds the power. The power of Jesus is stronger than the works of the devil, be it sickness, torment, disease. Jesus is superior, He reigns. Jesus came to demonstrate love and to set us, the captives, free. We are now to lead people to the kingdom.

So we see, the real meaning of Christmas lives on. The real meaning of Christmas is God’s love for man, so much so that He was willing to come for us. That same love is being demonstrated today. Let the true power of Christmas continue in us.
