The Power of Faith (Pt.3) – Apostle Stephen Holford

“For we walk by faith and not by sight.” 2 Corinthians 5:7

In 2 Corinthians 4, Paul told the church about the hard trials that he went through for Jesus. He called these trials light and but for a moment.

What is seen with the natural eye is temporary and may seem real but what cannot be seen is eternal. Faith sees the invisible and bypasses what we see with the natural.

If we are going through an economic crisis that results in the loss of a job, all of that is temporary. When we have faith, we look to God, the One who has unlimited resources. We need to stop looking at the temporary things. The Bible says those who know their God will be strong and will do exploits (Daniel 11:32). We need to fix our eyes on the God of our salvation who will look after us.

What we go through now in the natural does not define who we are. It is who God is to us that defines us. If God gives us a word or a promise, it doesn’t matter what Satan says (Isaiah 54:17). God’s Word will sustain us in the midst of what we are going through. God said that heaven and earth will pass away but His Word will remain.

Faith is belief and complete dependence on God (Mark 4:35-41). It causes us to change our language. We need to speak positively. Faith is the complete opposite of sight. Faith is not sight but with faith we can see. Another word for sight is fear, unbelief, doubt and feelings. Walking in faith is fearing God more than man and trusting Him in all circumstances.

Hebrews 11:1 says that “faith is the substance of things hoped for and the evidence of things not seen.” Faith says I AM and not I will be. When we have faith, we see things as though they have already happened. One word from God can change our destiny. When God says go, we need to go. One step in faith can move mountains. When God gives us a word, trials will come but He will not leave us nor forsake us.

Faith is complete trust and dependence on God and what He says. God is not a man that He should lie. Nothing can separate us from the love of God (Romans 8:38-39). When pressure and trials come, it doesn’t mean that God has stop loving us. Sometimes God can make things go wrong in our lives so that pride can be taken away.

In these challenging times of economic crisis, we need to live by faith and put our trust in God. In Psalms 23, it says, “the Lord is my shepherd and I shall not want.” Walk by faith and not by sight and see how God will turn up for you. All things are possible with God!!
