During the year of 2017, God is preparing us for the coming of Jesus Christ. He is preparing His church to be one that is strong and one that takes territory. He is preparing us for something powerful.
As we are in the year of jubilee, we have liberty. The day of Pentecost came on the 50th day (Acts 2:1-4). It came as a jubilee for the disciples of Jesus. In this season, God is going to pour out His Spirit upon the church, upon those who are hungry for Him. He will pour out wind and fire in our lives in this new year, 2017. He is bringing us to a place where we would live in the power of the Holy Spirit.
The Greek word “dunamis” which means power refers to the ability to perform an activity and mighty deeds. It is supernatural power. God is giving us power to perform miracles and to manifest Christ in the earth. He is giving us power to live a holy life and be all that He has called us to be. In 2017, we will experience a new measure of His power. God is about to shift us in this new year. This year is the acceptable year of the Lord. This is jubilee.
During this time, we must walk in the Spirit (Galatians 5:16). It is not for us to make our own decisions but to walk and live according to the will of God. When we walk in the Spirit, we will not walk in sin. To walk in the Spirit means to pattern our lives according to what the Spirit is saying. The Spirit influences us and everything that we do. Because of this, we will not make mistakes. The result of walking in the Spirit is looking like Christ.
“If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit.” Galatians 5:25 (NKJV)
We declare that this year, our lives will not be the same. We dedicate 2017 to God for His glory and honour. God is looking for a remnant who would be faithful to Him. He is looking for a church who would be on fire for Him. This year must be one of sacrifice and prayer. We must be serious and focused on God. This year, God will keep and sustain us. He will reign and rule over us. We will not operate the way we used to.
The number 17 in biblical terms refers to victory and purpose. We will have victories in this new year. We will have victory over sin and everything that held us back. Victory does not come without a battle. However, there is no need to be afraid because it is for our good. There are a number of examples in the Bible where there was a battle but also a victory. David went through many battles but God brought him out from obscurity to prominence. God is bringing us out. Many have rejected us but God has accepted us. Behold He is doing a new thing in us. God has us hidden. It may seem as though we may be overlooked at times but God is hiding and training us for a time. He is preparing us for something powerful.
Don’t give up! God has great purposes for our lives. We have not seen anything yet.
