Living According To Heaven (Pt.2) – Apostle Stephen Holford

We are called to embrace Heaven now. When we live according to Heaven’s mandates, our lives will be reordered. We will function from a Heavenly perspective, and live Heaven here on earth. Living the lifestyle of Heaven calls for knowing the voice of God, living as Jesus lived and walking in obedience. Jesus was focused on doing His Father’s will (John 4:34). He was submitted to the Father (John 5:19). Living according to Heaven must be our lifestyle, a daily happening and not an occasional activity. It is our blueprint and the key for successful living.

We must walk closely with God in this season. Our desire must be for more of Him. We should desire to encounter Him and live in the place of intimacy. Our desire for God must be greater than our desire for material things. Jesus put His own desires aside, He died to His own will and said yes to the Father (John 5:30). We should be seeking God for His will for our lives. When we find out His will for our lives, we must be willing to give up our own desires and ambitions and do His will regardless of how much time, money or effort we might have invested in the fulfilment of our own. We must be about our Father’s business.

As we live according to Heaven’s mandate, we give everything over to God. His language becomes our language (John 12:49-50). We must say no to self. Self loves to have its own way and seeks to glorify itself. It does not want to be laughed at, criticized or embarrassed. We must put self to death just as Jesus did. Apostle Paul disciplined his body and brought it into subjection (1 Corinthians 9:27). Self will make you tired and sleepy and would remind you of other things you have to do when you want to pray or read the Word. We must bring sleep and all other desires under control. We must not allow self and sin to be in control. We must have dominion over sin. We must allow the Holy Spirit to have rule over us by submitting to Him and allowing Him to govern us. We must be possessed by the Holy Spirit.

Living heavenly calls for sacrifice. We must cultivate a hunger and thirst for more of God. Heaven has an atmosphere, a sound and a presence. In order to impact the earth, Jesus spent a lot of time with His Father. We too will impact the earth with the atmosphere of Heaven as we spend time with God. Healings will be immediate, demons will be submitted to us and we will easily flow with signs, miracles and wonders. We will live like Jesus and look like Jesus. Christ is our rest, we will not have to work hard to see things happen. By Heaven, we will see tremendous miracles, signs and wonders in our own lives as we encounter God. We must pray and yearn for encounters with God.

Our assignment is to reveal Jesus to the world, to bring transformation and purpose to people’s lives and to demonstrate Heaven in the earth. Heaven will release a strength to us as we go forward and we will be able to rejoice in spite of persecution. The power of God will propel us forward. We are called to penetrate communities by showing the love of Christ and sharing the gospel.

God’s main purpose for Adam and Eve was for them to live by Heaven so that they would function in the earth as it is in Heaven. Earth was designed to have Heaven’s structure, its mandate, its language and culture. Though it was lost in Adam, we who are in Christ can now live again according to Heaven. We can bring Heaven near. Heaven must be our reality. We must pursue, strive after, cry after the things of Heaven.

To live victoriously, our hearts must be set on Heaven, to see signs and wonders (Colossians 3:1-3). We must go after God and seek Him and not the material things. The desire for earthly or material things must not diminish our desire for God, these desires should be only a want and not a need. Our only need should be for God. Let’s pray for more of God, more of His presence and anointing. Let’s pray that He would invade our space and manifest Himself to us in a new way.
