Apostolic Convention : Times of Refreshing Session 1 – Apostle Vivian Duncan

“Repent therefore and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, so that times of refreshing may come from the presence of the Lord.” Acts 3:19

The word ‘repent’ means to change your position on a matter so that God can move and so that He can give you all that you need. It means to reconfigure and to reshape our thoughts.

If we are out of position, we will lose your vision. Our transition from glory to glory will only come when we repent. Today intercession has changed into complaining sessions. Prophets do not complain, they proclaim the Word of God. Even in the midst of distress, the prophet has to be the one to strengthen the people.

Cars have large windshields and small rear view mirrors. These rear mirrors are smaller than the windshield which indicates that we need to look forward to where we are going instead of looking backwards and living in our past. We have been looking in the rear view mirror for too long.

Habakkuk 2: 1 says “I will stand my watch and set myself on the rampart and watch to see what He will say to me and what I will answer when I am corrected.” A prophet is a watchman as well as an intercessor or anyone who dares to hear from God. As soon as Habakkuk changed his position in Habakkuk 2, God answered. Do not listen to the opinions of others concerning your relationship with God that is between you and God. This season, it is you and God!

Position is powerful when it comes to learning. The parable of the sower in Matthew 13 is the key to understanding all parables. Jesus understood that not everyone wanted to hear or do the truth, so He spoke in codes.

There were four different types of soil.
– Some seeds fell by the way side. This is where some of us come to church by the way. Church is not a passion or desire for those who fall by the wayside. As a result, we do not receive anything from the Word.
– Some seeds fell on stony ground. This is where the seed is unable to penetrate and it has no root.
– Some fell among thorns. This is when we receive the truth and we are enclosed in that bubble of truth but then someone comes and pricks it. We have to avoid persons who will try to prick the word that we have received.
– Some seeds fell on good ground. When we take the Word, study it and hide it in our hearts, it begins to produce fruit.

‘Sperma’ is the Greek word for seed. The seed which is the Word needs an incubator in order for it to rise. The Word must go beyond our natural ear but into our spiritual ear as well.

There is a block of truth in Acts 3:19-22. These verses speak of restitution. The word ‘restoration’ means to give back what we have taken. The word ‘refreshing’ means to rehydrate. In times of refreshing, we must go to the one who has offended us. We must let go of past hurts and forgive.
