“But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people, that you may proclaim the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light.” 1 Peter 2:9
As a royal priesthood, we are kings and priests. The Holy Spirit is allowing us to hear this so that we will understand the power that is within us and what He is calling us to do. The kingly aspect of our role on the earth is that we take over kingdoms. God rescued us from the power of darkness and He has brought us into the kingdom of His Son (Colossians 1:13). This kingdom has new rules and a new language.
One of the major things of a kingdom is its military might and its economy. There is no economy in the kingdom of God because it is very wealthy. It cannot run into trouble because it has unlimited resources. The military part of the kingdom is not made up of only angels but the church is also a part of it. Part of our kingship on the earth is the releasing of people from the kingdom of darkness. Our responsibility is not only to get saved and go to heaven but to operate on the earth as a king. We are not saved just to go to heaven but we are saved to live heaven. We are to carry the atmosphere of heaven with us every day so that we can impact people’s lives. When we live heaven, we function through authority and dominion. We are kings in the kingdom of God. We don’t have to be a king that is recognized in the earth because worldly kings fade away.
The church is a part of God’s government who sit in heavenly places with Christ Jesus where He is seated far above all principality and power (Ephesians 1:20-21, 2:4-6). We are able to judge things not only in the future but now. We are able to walk in power not only when we come to church but every day of our lives. We are called to walk in power when no one is seeing us. The anointing is always upon us, it does not come when we sing a particular song. Do we really know who we are?
Some of us have tied ourselves to the world and to the economy rather than to God. When we are connected to God, we don’t have to worry about the economic downfall. If we live kingdom every day, the king will take care of us.
If we are to rule out demonic spirits, it must be done with power, the power of God. What was important to Jesus was His relationship with God not casting out devils and healing the sick. All of His works was as result of His relationship with God. A lot of times we function in the wrong way. We focus on our works rather than on our relationship with God.
It is time for us to understand that we are called to displace the powers of darkness in the earth. When we know who we are and what we are called to do that is when the devil gets worried. The devil is not threatened when we meet for church but he is threatened when we start to change and impact communities. We have to know our assignment and what we are called for.
Man has been trying to build churches and that is the problem. Our responsibility is to build the kingdom of God on the earth. We need to start targeting the spirits that rule in particular areas through prayer before we evangelize. We have to bind up the strong man before we can move into their house. We have to always look at the bigger picture. We have to cast devils out of people but we also have to grow into casting them out of communities, regions and nations.
If we can’t handle a demon in a person, how can we handle spiritual wickedness in high places? We are called to engage in spiritual warfare (Ephesians 6:12). We are the ones who will wrestle against them not only angels. Who will be strong in the Lord and deal with the kingdom of darkness? God is preparing us to deal with spirits that a lot of people are running from. He is preparing us to take on things that we haven’t dealt with before. He is making us ready. Fighting demons is not for Michael and Gabriel but for us. We have to become strong and stop saying ‘I just want to be blessed’. The issue is that we have not been drawing on the resurrection power of Jesus Christ. We declare a fivefold anointing on you! It is time for us to take out the things that are taking us out.
What does ‘the course of this world’ mean in Ephesians 2:1-2? The Greek word for course or age is ‘aion’. It is the activity and culture within that period of time. We are ruled by the Spirit of God. Our lifestyle must go according to the kingdom of God and not the kingdom of darkness. This is why we have to watch what we adopt in this age because what we adopt may have originated from a demonic prince that rules this age. We have to be careful and make sure that we flow with the culture of the Kingdom of God. The devil has a culture and he imposes it in his kingdom. When we are saved, we should not be controlled by the course of this world. Every new phrase or fashion, we don’t have to be a part of. Every new dress and style is not for a king. We have to walk according to the King. What is the King saying? If we are a king, why are we following a prince? We are kings and we have to follow the King of Kings. When we are in the kingdom of God, we are free but how we can be free if we are in bondage from the course of this world? We must ask God to teach us how to be a king.
We are called to walk in kingdom dominion and authority (Matthew 16:19). We are representatives of the kingdom of God. We are released by God to impose the culture of the kingdom in the world. When we move in kingdom anointing, we move in true dominion. Authority is when God speaks and we back up what He says while dominion is when we speak and God backs up what we say (Luke 10:19).
God has commissioned us to heal the sick, cast out demons and destroy the works of the enemy. This is not only the commission for the fivefold ministers but it is for every believer. Part of our function and purpose in the earth is to displace the powers of the enemy. If we remain immature and do our own thing, we will be ineffective in the earth. Creation is waiting for the sons of God to be revealed. It is time for the world to be put in order.
God has given us weapons to pull down strongholds (2 Corinthians 10:4-6). We are the ones who are doing the casting down. The key to doing everything in 2 Corinthians 10 is obedience. We cannot move demons if we do not obey God. When we walk in obedience, things become easy. A lot of people miss their prophetic cycle because they were disobedient. Before Adam disobeyed God, he was working but when he disobeyed, he began to toil the ground (Genesis 2:15, 3:17-18). He had to use a lot of effort to get it done. The people of Israel disobeyed God and doubted Him (Numbers 13:1-2, 14:1-4, 26-34). As a result of their disobedient, they had to wander in the wilderness. When we obey, things are easy and when we disobey, we have to toil. Are we walking in disobedience? We must be ruled by the Spirit of God. We must obey God and the spiritual authority that He has placed over us. How can we displace demons if we are disobedient? We just have to say yes to God.
How can we truly take our place as kings in the earth and displace principalities and powers?
– We have to obey God and when we do, we will have to make sacrifices.
– We have to cultivate a strong relationship with God.
– We represent God not only ourselves.
– Believe what the Word of God says about you and live by it.
– In our dealing with principalities, make orders. We are not to ask God to move principalities but we are. We must speak clearly and boldly.
– We must understand that we have been given authority and power over demons. We must treat a demon as how we would treat a child.
– Keep yourself unspotted from the world.
– Live a life of worship. Worship confuses the enemy.
– Live by faith and not our feelings.
– Put off the old nature and put on your kingly nature (Ephesians 4:17-32). When we live a holy life, we attract all the blessings from heaven. Are we then going to live?
And they sang a new song, saying: “You are worthy to take the scroll, and to open its seals; For You were slain, and have redeemed us to God by Your blood out of every tribe and tongue and people and nation, and have made us kings and priests to our God; and we shall reign on the earth.” Revelations 5:9-10
