The reality is that we are feeling the heat not only in the natural but in our own lives, we are going through things that we shouldn’t be going through because we are not in the shadow of the Almighty. It is more than reading the Bible. It is before our very eyes so we need to ask God for the spirit wisdom and revelation to anoint our eyes so that we can see. If God assigns tribulation to us, there is glory attached to it. Not every hardship is Godship, it is not the vessel. Some of the hardships we bring on ourselves because we don’t dwell in the secret place. When we dwell in the shadow of the Almighty, we will have shade. If we want to see acceleration, we must dwell in the secret place because God wants to give us shade.
He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. Psalm 91:1
The secret place offers security and not only shade. God wants us to get behind Him because some of the fights are not for us, they are for God. Sometimes God wants to jump in so therefore, we have to stay out because the battle does not belong to us. It belongs to God. We have to know when to inspire and when to expire in order to access the secret place.
When Jehoshaphat went out to battle, God fought for him. God confused the enemy and they slaughtered themselves (2 Chronicles 20:5-30). Sometimes we let the devil dupe us and not listen to the rhema word. When we are under the shadow of the Almighty, we are in a place that is secluded. King Uzziah was a demonic boundary that restricted revelation and power from visiting Israel (Isaiah 6). Being in the secret place at one stage in your life does not mean you will stay there, it calls for commitment. If we claim to love God, we cannot start with ourselves. We have to start with God and live a lifestyle that is pleasing and accountable to Him.
In Acts 10, God highlighted a man by the name of Cornelius that was not a Jew but a Gentile and chose him to be the first one, the forerunner. Cornelius was the first Gentile to receive benefits of the secret place.
For the Lord God is a sun and shield; the Lord will give grace and glory; no good thing will He withhold from those who walk uprightly. Psalm 84:11
Keys To The Secret Place:
1) Walk uprightly
Cornelius walked uprightly before God (Acts 10:2, 22). He was the centurion referred to in Matthew 8 and he understood the importance of accountability. He told Jesus that he was a man under authority. He submitted to the authority of his leaders. If we are going to be candidates for the secret place, we need to have a sense of accountability and uprightness.
2) Imparted divinely
Cornelius imparted divinely (Acts 10:24). He had compassion to impart to people. He was loved by his family and others. He had love for household. We must first impart divinely within our families. Our public and private lives must be the same.
If someone says, “I love God,” and hates his brother, he is a liar; for he who does not love his brother whom he has seen, how can[c] he love God whom he has not seen? 1 John 4:20
If there is offence in our hearts, we need to let it go and forgive. We cannot say that we love God and we do not love our brothers and sisters. We are then liars.
3) Live generously
Cornelius lived a generous life. He was not stingy but also gave. We too must also be cheerful givers (Psalms 41:1, Proverbs 19:17, 28:27, Mathew 5:42, Luke 6:38, Hebrews 13:16, 1 Timothy 6: 17-18).
