Living According To Heaven Apostolic Convention Session 5
Darkness is not necessarily the absence of light. There is correlation between the way God want us to see and our perception and application of His word. If you do not expose yourself to the word of God, you would be living in darkness.
The word ‘blind’ is define as not being able to see, unwilling or unable to understand, lacking a sense of sight. Blindness is a state of thinking. Understanding is a choice that we make. If we choose not to understand, we would be wasting our time and God’s time. When we refuse to receive the word, we are not activating what God has given us as a part of our inheritance. One can be in church and still be blind. Healing is flowing in the church and you are still blind. Religion sees Jesus as one of the prophets. Jesus asked the disciples, “who do you say that I am” (Matthew 16:13-20). Peter declared, “You are Christ, the Son of the living God”. Jesus was given all power on earth and in heaven. Many miracles did not happen because of the lack of belief. A revelation is the uncovering of something that is important to you that you were blind to. When understanding comes, something happens in our life.
Vision is important. Without it, the people perish. Your position determines your vision. The closer you come to a thing, the greater the visibility. We need to be positioned correctly. Our eyes should be opened to see. Many times, we make decisions based on limited information. Gossip is built on limited information.
Jesus is concerned about kingdom citizens and not church members. In the church is where we are taught to live the kingdom. It is a filling station that fills us with kingdom fuel. We are ambassadors of Christ (2 Corinthians 5:20-21). There is a level of authority that comes when you are a kingdom citizen. What we learn at church, we affect how we interact with our families. The man is the head of the family. Because of religion, many think that the man is the boss and the woman is the one who submits. However, we are to submit to each other (Ephesians 5:21).
Now as Jesus passed by, He saw a man who was blind from birth. 2 And His disciples asked Him, saying, “Rabbi, who sinned, this man or his parents, that he was born blind?” 3 Jesus answered, “Neither this man nor his parents sinned, but that the works of God should be revealed in him. 4 I must work the works of Him who sent Me while it is day; the night is coming when no one can work. 5 As long as I am in the world, I am the light of the world.” 6 When He had said these things, He spat on the ground and made clay with the saliva; and He anointed the eyes of the blind man with the clay. 7 And He said to him, “Go, wash in the pool of Siloam” (which is translated, Sent). So he went and washed, and came back seeing. 8 Therefore the neighbors and those who previously had seen that he was blind said, “Is not this he who sat and begged?” 9 Some said, “This is he.” Others said, “He is like him.” He said, “I am he.” 10 Therefore they said to him, “How were your eyes opened?” 11 He answered and said, “A Man called Jesus made clay and anointed my eyes and said to me, ‘Go to the pool of Siloam and wash.’ So I went and washed, and I received sight.” 12 Then they said to him, “Where is He?” He said, “I do not know.” John 9:1-12
Religious people would not allow you to live kingdom. We must not live religion. Jesus was in a religious battle with the Pharisees. When Jesus showed up, He came to preach kingdom and not church. However, when He preached the kingdom, religion attacked Him. Jesus didn’t only speak the word, He is the word. He is the light. Sight is the receipt of light rays that are reflected.
As kingdom citizens, we must be colour blind and race blind. The cure for blindness is an accurate application of the word of God. If the kingdom is found in us, we will see things from a kingdom perspective. Religious thinking confines us to seeing things through lens of sin and condemnation. Stop looking through the lens of religion and start looking into the lens of God.
